Microsoft's Business Intelligence Conference 2008 is next week. My #1 objective while there is to win friends and influence people... no, not Ben Stein. I mean the "business" guys at my company. I'm ecstatic that I've convinced one of them to come along. At least I think he's coming - he hasn't returned my emails in a week... Anyway, my goal is to get him excited about BI, performance management, balanced scorecards, etc. If he can see the business value - in ways to improve customer relationships, increase sales volumes, increase gross margin on sales, or reduce costs - then hopefully he can tell me what that business value is. Then, he'll either be my evangelist, or will let me know what pages out of the company's bible to preach to get more converts...
My second objective is to learn some more about Microsoft's stack - specifically the next few items I'll be working with - Analysis Services and Reporting Services. Last year, I took notes. But this year, I'll post my notes here. That guarantees I'll never lose them.
